Introduction
People often say to me "I like what you are saying about making better use of the net for my business but I am not sure how to get started." In this edition I want to share some examples of how we have worked with clients to help them start using the net within their business.

Changing from a printed newsletter

One of our clients runs a property valuation business. For several years Richard had sent out printed newsletters to clients and prospects. When he heard about the idea of an enewsletter Richard could see several benefits - less time to compile, cheaper distribution and the ability to see what happens at the other end.
To make this change Richard informed his mailing list - thru his printed newsletter - that he was switching to enewsletters. People were encouraged to provide their email addresses so the newsletter could be delivered electronically. The response was very positive and now each month his newsletter is delivered as an email.
Richard observes "The newsletter is now a 'thin' email and gets through to those customers who blocked large attachments and I can monitor if my clients actually open the email or not - very handy."

Starting a newsletter from scratch

Another client Elite Design Interiors wanted to establish contact with a particular section of their market. Elite, a corporate and retail fitout specialist, created an introductory newsletter that marketed what their business had to offer to people who had never heard of them before.
In compliance with the new Anti-Spam legislation the newsletter template gave people the opportunity to unsubscribe. A few took up this option but over 30% opened the newsletter and many of these had several looks at the information this company was providing. Of those who opened the newsletter 15% visited Elite's website.
So from a standing start this business was able to introduce new contacts to their services and products and to see who responded to their newsletter. Darryl, Elite's Director of Sales and Marketing says "We are very encouraged with the response we have received from this first mailout. It has already produced some strong leads and we are confident that this system will continue to be a effective part of our ongoing marketing strategy."

Changing or creating a website

Once you start to use enewsletters they will generate interest in your website. In many cases websites have not been designed to be user-friendly. One of our services is to review existing websites from this perspective or to create new ones.

Search engine listing

One other way to get traffic to your website - in addition to enewsletters - is to list your site on search engines. This means that when people search the net for your type of product/service your website will be listed.
The hard part is getting your site listed on the first few pages of a search engine. We have had some success in achieving this for our clients.
If any of these areas are of interest to you and your business and you would like to talk with us about possible implementation please drop us a line or give us a call.
