Questions (and Answers)

What is Using the Net ?
Using the Net is a Web-based service that helps businesses and organisations interact
with their audience through professional-looking e-newsletters. It connects large groups of
customers, members and fans in a way that's more immediate, more personalised and,
in many cases, more effective than print.
|
What does "Web-based" mean?
It means that our server handles just about everything, from storing your audience
information and campaign graphics to sending your campaigns and tracking your response.
It also means your account is accessible from any computer with an Internet connection,
day or night.
|
What do I need to use Using the Net?
Things you will need: 1. An Internet connection, 2. A working email address,
and 3. An interest in communicating with your audience through email.
|
What do I NOT need?
Things you will not need: 1. HTML knowledge, 2. Graphic design skills,
3. A server, or 4. an IT department. There is no software to install and no
database to maintain, and unlimited help for even the least technologically
inclined among us.
|
How is Using the Net priced?
Using the Net carries a one-time setup and design charge and a monthly subscription
that covers all of your account features and storage.

How secure are the lists I store on Using the Net?
The Using the Net website is protected by a DIGITAL SSL CERTIFICATE. Digital
Certificates (or DCs) are a standard software application loaded onto the web server
that provides a secure encrypted link (SSL-secure socket layer) between a website and
a customer. DCs provide protection for the data which is being transmitted through the
Internet and make it harder for hackers to crack passwords and gain unauthorised access.
Digital certificates are in compliance with the Privacy Act requirement for secure
transfer of personal customer information. No other customer will ever see your lists or your
data. Recipients of your emails will never see your lists. Your lists, content and data
are protected by a username and password you control.
|
Does Using the Net "rent" or "sell" email lists?
No. Our terms of use and privacy policy prohibit the use of Using the Net as a tool for
sending unsolicited email. Our advice to businesses and organisations: there's no better
list than the one you build yourself.
|
What if I don't really have a list of my own?
Then it's time to start building one. Collect names and addresses every chance you
get: at the cash register, over the phone, on the website and at events.
Using the Net helps you grow your list with an audience signup that encourages new people
to join your list from your website and every email you send.
|
How do I get started using Using the Net?
Go to the
Open an Account page or drop us an email.
Depending on your design template needs, we can usually have you up and running in a day or
two. Once your account is open, you can begin importing your lists and creating your first
campaign.
|
What if I need help along the way?
No problem. We would love to help as we know what it is like learning a new skill.
There's an email address at the bottom of every screen, and we encourage you to use it.
